UK landlines switch off 31 January 2027 — I can get yours sorted before then.
Run personally by Jake · UK-wide

A home phone number, without the landline.

Whether you're replacing a landline before the switch-off, or you've never had one and just want a proper home number — I set up a digital line that works over your broadband, keeps your number, and answers on an app as well as (or instead of) a handset. One person, start to finish — me.

Two reasons people call me

Whichever brought you here, it's the same line

Every home landline in the UK is changing — but the reason people get in touch usually comes down to one of these two.

Before the switch-off

Already have a landline?

The old copper phone network shuts down on 31 January 2027. You may have had a letter about it already. I'll sort the move to a digital line properly — keep the number, get it working, done.

  • Keep your number exactly as it is
  • No engineer visit needed, in most cases
  • Sorted remotely, start to finish, by me
Never had one

Want a number, not a phone line?

No landline, no interest in one either — but you like the idea of a proper home number, separate from your personal mobile, that lives as an app on the phone you already carry. Popular with home workers and sole traders too.

  • A real number, without a handset on the side table
  • Keeps your personal mobile off tradespeople, schools & deliveries
  • Set up remotely, on your terms
Before you switch

The honest bit — I'd rather tell you now

Straightforward, not hard-selling. A few things worth knowing before you switch, so there are no surprises after.

Needs home broadband

The line runs over your internet connection, whichever provider it's with — so you'll need working home broadband for it to work.

Power cuts

Unless your router has battery backup, the line won't work without power. Worth knowing before you rely on it in an emergency.

Telecare pendants

If anyone in the house uses a personal alarm pendant, check compatibility with your telecare provider first — I'll help you work through it.

999 calls & your address

Digital lines register your address for emergency call routing when you set up — a quick, one-off step I'll walk you through.

What you get

Straightforward, and that's it

One monthly price, stated plainly — no hidden line rental, no upsells, no surprises after you've signed up.

The switch

Moving your number across, or setting up a new one from scratch — handled personally, over the phone, by me.

  • Number transfer included
  • No activation fee, no hidden line rental
  • No engineer visit needed, in most cases

The line

Works via an app on any smartphone. A handset is offered, never pushed — plenty of people run it entirely from their phone.

  • Answer on the app, a handset, or both
  • Optional handset, +£3.60/month inc. VAT
  • Voicemails transcribed & emailed automatically

How it's priced

£16.74 a month inc. VAT, on a 24-month agreement stated plainly — never buried in small print.

  • One point of contact, start to finish
  • No jargon, no scare tactics, no hard sell
  • Straightforward about the trade-offs too
Why work with me

Not a call centre

01

A real person, not a call centre

I set it up and I'm the one you ring afterwards — no scripts, no queues, no offshore support line.

02

Named, not faceless

Based in Boston, Lincolnshire, but serving customers anywhere in the UK — the personal service isn't limited to a local patch.

03

Honest about the trade-offs

Broadband dependency, power cuts, telecare compatibility — flagged upfront, not discovered after you've switched.

04

No pressure to buy hardware

A handset is offered, never pushed. Plenty of customers are happy running it entirely from the app.

How it works

Four steps, start to finish

1

Call or text me

Tell me your current number, or that you don't have one, and I'll explain exactly what happens next.

2

We agree a date

I'll talk you through the switch and agree when it'll happen — no surprise cut-off, no guesswork.

3

Your number transfers

Your existing number is ported over, or a new one assigned — usually with no engineer visit needed.

4

You're live

Answer calls on the app, a handset, or both. Voicemails land in your inbox automatically from day one.

Who's behind it

Just me — Jake

"I got tired of watching people get passed between call centres for something as basic as a phone line — so I sort it myself, personally, start to finish."

I'm Jake, based in Wyberton, Boston, Lincolnshire — and I run JW Home VoIP personally, alongside my web design business, JW Business Websites. When you get in touch, you're talking directly to the person who'll actually set up your line.

The service is resold through an established VoIP partner programme, rather than a network I run myself — so you get solid, reliable infrastructure behind the scenes, with one real person handling everything you actually deal with.

Questions

Good to know

Still deciding?

Here are the questions I get asked most. If yours isn't here, just ask directly — I'll get back to you the same day, usually.

Want a straight answer about your specific setup?

Yes — number transfer is included as standard. Your existing number moves across to the digital line, and once it's live you'll answer it on the app (and a handset, if you've added one) exactly as before.

Because the line runs over your home broadband, it needs power to work — so it won't function in a power cut unless your router has battery backup. Worth knowing upfront, especially if you rely on the phone for emergencies.

Not always automatically — telecare pendants can be sensitive to the switch from an analogue line to a digital one. Check compatibility with your telecare provider before switching, and I'm happy to help you work through it.

Yes, the line works over your existing home broadband connection, whichever provider it's with. If you don't have broadband yet, get that sorted first and then get in touch.

Yes — a 24-month agreement, stated plainly upfront. £16.74 a month inc. VAT, no hidden line rental.

No — the line works entirely through an app on your smartphone. A physical handset for the side table is available as an optional extra for £3.60/month inc. VAT, but it's never pushed on you.

Emergency calls still work as normal. As part of setup, your address is registered so 999 calls are routed with your location — a quick, one-off step I'll walk you through.

Yes — anywhere in the UK. It's a digital service set up remotely, so there's no need to be near Boston, Lincolnshire, where I'm based.
